We are going to one tonight for one of the two local agencies that were recommended by the facilitator of the Resolve talk time group I have attended. I received the info from the one other agency in which I was interested, but its domestic adoption program is currently full and I don't want to even contemplate a waiting list in addition to the length of time adoption can take.
I'm not sure what I am looking to find out from tonight's meeting. When I asked him last night, DH said he just wanted to understand the process better.
If I had to describe my feelings, I would say I am feeling rather ambivalent. And thankful that the Clomid doesn't cause any emotional reactions in me.

DH and i went to our first adoption meeting last month. i was more like your DH - the instigator for our attendance. my DH was a willing participant, nothing more. we both were really happy we went. it was a wonderful meeting, and although we are not "there yet" as a couple, we feel a lot more comfortable about adoption now. although we are heading into another IVF, DH and i talk about adoption more and more.
in some ways, going to an adoption meeting feels like we are admitting to ourselves on some level that we believe that we will never conceive. that we have given up hope. while it is not necessarily true, that feeling is a tough thing to conquer. we just have to take it one step at a time.
good luck, and i can't wait to hear how it goes.
