When we met with the RE back in June, he mentioned as an aside that in order to undergo ivf (which we weren't even considering at the time), I would have to lose 50 pounds. I can report that since that time I have lost 28 pounds. I'm not there yet, but on my way, and feeling a bit proud of myself for the effort.
After officially weighing in Monday night (both of us having actually lost weight on our vacation-go figure), yesterday began the new diet plan DH and I are giving a go. I must confess there is a little tiny piece inside me that hopes that DH's weight loss might improve the count enough (urologist mentioned that this was the only factor he could recommend for improvement) that we could give IUI another go. Probably wishful thinking, but that's all I've got right now. I feel like I am jsut twiddling my thumbs with these natural cycles.

Not wishful thinking at all! Congrats on that weight loss! That is extreme dedication! Go you!!
First, thanks for the welcome on my blog :)
Awesome on the weight loss! It is so great that DH is in that with you.
As for MFIF, I know how that can be. My DH went to urologist and from what he said there was not much that could be done. He take multi-vitamins and fish oil tabs daily. He has not had an SA since starting the fish oil so we are not sure of the effects. We were told after 3 failed IUIs and over 8 cycles clomid that IVF w/ ICSI is our best chance. I hope you can get to that point if need be. But I will be pulling for you with the natural cycles and hopefully you will not need IVF :)
28 pounds is fantastic...that's not twiddling your thumbs at all. It's all progress moving you towards getting your baby.
Good luck with the new diet
You deserve a giant pat on the back. Congratulations on the weight loss!
Congratulations on the fantastic weight loss! We too face the challenge of MFI. DF has found quite a bit of literature on the benefits of weight loss and weight training on testosterone production, and thereby sperm production. So, here's hoping for both of us. ;)
Congratulations on your weight loss! That is quite an accomplishment :)
Awesome job on the weight loss! You go girl!!
Wow! That's amazing - you're more than half way. Good luck!
Congratulations! I hope I'll be joining you at the 28lb mark in the not too distant future. Keep going girl! You obviously can do it! :)
Congratulations on your weight loss! That's a great accomplishment, and you do deserve a big pat on the back!
Hurray for the weight loss! That's a big deal!
Wow I am so impressed. I have worked hard to loose weight in the past and the most I've ever lost is about 10 pounds. I am so impressed with you for loosing 28! You SHOULD be proud of yourself! You go girl!
