It's official!

Here I wrote how I had instigated a change in our leave policy so that fathers and adoptive parents would be able to use the same amount of their already-accrued sick leave as women who give birth. Today, I learned that the change in policy had passed all of its bureaucratic hurdles and will be in place for 2008!

ETA- in response to Jen's question, just to clarify, it is not six weeks of paid leave. It's being able to use six weeks of sick time for leave if one has the sick time accrued.

Congratulations! And good job!

Where do you work that you can get six weeks of paid leave? Are there any openings there?

Good for you!! You should be proud for doing something. I know I would have thought about it, but then probably sat on my fat lazy butt!

Wow! I miss a day and all these updates! :) Congrats on your success! That's AWESOME! Sorry about the MIL. :( Sounds like something mine would do. And GL with the IVF/adoption route! We're just starting to dip our toes into adoption waters, and it's very intimidating!
