Ignorance Abounds

Yesterday on the phone my mother tells me all about information her doctor gave her about doing sperm fragmentation testing. I haven't gone into detail with her what the cause of our infertility is for a variety of reasons so she thinks we need to do more testing on DH because "doctors often think it's the woman, when it's the man." Duh. Apparently, this quack told her "it only takes one." Beyond the fact that this is a personal pet peeve, it's medically inaccurate which I tried to explain to her. She is a nurse, after all. Her response was that she "disagreed" with me that hundreds of sperm are necessary to break down the outer membrane. And that I "shouldn't believe everything I read."

Argh! I hate people who insist that inaccurate information is correct. My mother-in-law is the worst with that and she used to be a nurse too. I never trust anything she tells me unless I get it verified elsewhere.

mom's definitely know how to turn that knife in the gut, don't they.

we should send both of ours to have a drink together and learn the benefits of having a filter.
