Another reason to hate the pill

I wasn't on birth control pills very long but how I hated them (although I was obsessive-compulsive about taking them on time). But this study is another reason to count them as evil. Apparently, being on the pill can cause women to pick bad mates, even ones who are incompatible from a fertility perspective.

Since I wasn't on the pill until DH and I decided to get married, I can't say as they affected my decision-making, but I thought the study was interesting to ponder.

Hmm...interesting. I'd like to read the actual scientific study. Sometimes these interesting sounding ones end up being full of holes, like that cell phone and pregnancy study a couple of months ago. I got the actual study on that one and then spent fifteen minutes laughing my head off that anyone believed it was true. (Not that I am saying that this birth control one isn't, just that I'd like to read the actual one to see if it is.)

Back in my 20's when I was on BCP I dated total losers. I'm now going to go with the BCP clouding my decision making.

That is fascinating and a bit unnerving. I didn't know that it could affect your sense of smell in that way.

I've known about the ability to smell genetic compatibility before... but I didn't know about the specifics regarding MHC and I didn't know that being on or off the pill could affect a woman's ability to do it accurately. I'm utterly intrigued.
