Mother's Day for the childess

Thankfully, our church is not one that passes out flowers or does any other sort of overt recognition of mothers. Still, the sermon focuses on how God comforts "just like a mother." As if those who are not mothers cannot provide godly comfort. Or perhaps, I am just sensitive. Actually, most of the day was not too difficult to struggle through.

And just when I was able to issue a sigh of relief for the day being over, on Monday, the female senators wore hats and gave a corny rhymed speech about how great mothers are. I was beyond offended that the childless were left out. Apparently, motherhood is a prerequisite to an election certificate. Why could they not have left well enough alone?
